Kubota chooses Michelin to drive brand forward
Kubota recently launched four new models in its M-Series tractor range of mid-sized agricultural and utility lines. Included in the new range are the Kubota M100X, M110X, M126X and M135X with horsepower ratings of between 98hp and 135hp. The higher horsepower tractors from the new Kubota range have added features such as more power, more torque and an electronic fuel system that contributes towards greater power, less noise and reduced emissions. To further compliment the advantages of purchasing a new Kubota tractor, Kubota New Zealand have specified the Michelin Omnibib tyre as standard equipment on these new models.
As the latest innovation in agricultural tyre design from Michelin, the Omnibib sets a new performance benchmark for 70 series tyres and is designed for 70-180hp tractors, complimenting the horsepower range of the new Kubota M series perfectly. The Michelin Omnibib tyre is faster on the road and in the field (D speed rating < 65kph). It enhances fuel efficiency, protects soil while creating fewer ruts, boasts a 13% longer life tread than its main rivals and handles loads up to 14% higher than a standard tyre can.
Kubota's new M135X on Michelin tyres
“When we ordered the new ‘MX’ series tractors from the factory, we decided, why not fit the best tractor tyre on the market to the fastest growing tractor brand in New Zealand,” said Kubota New Zealand spokesman, Shaun (Monty) Monteith. “For years Michelin has been regarded as the best ‘All Round’ tractor tyre and the release of the new Omnibib has cemented that belief.”
Surface work such as spraying and fertilising can be performed at higher speed, therefore productivity is enhanced and fuel efficiency is increased by 2%.
With its wider footprint and ability to operate when inflated up to 0.2 bar less than its competitors, the Michelin Omnibib features the best tread life in its class. The rounded shoulders and lugs that don’t sink as deeply into the soil were designed to help farmers protect their crops. The Omnibib is also capable of carrying heavier loads without damaging the soil, while providing a more comfortable ride and enhancing vehicle handling.
The Michelin Omnibib is distributed in NZ by TRS Tyre and Wheel Ltd, the sole authorised distributor of Michelin Agricultural products. “We are delighted to be able to assist Kubota NZ in extracting the optimum performance possible from this innovative new range of tractors by carefully matching the choice of tyre to the operating characteristics of the machine,” said Andrew Gillam, Marketing Manager for TRS. “Kubota’s choice of the Omnibib is further testament to the quality and performance of this tyre,” he said.
The features of the new Michelin Omnibib, combined with that of the new M Series tractors by Kubota, offer farmers great opportunity in increased field productivity without the usual related costs.
